I have been practicing ceramics for many years after studying clinical psychology and briefly working as an educator.
I am the son of a potter; the family workshop was located in Seillans, Var.
My influences in ceramics are both close to Mediterranean glazed earth, traditional pottery from the south, and distant to Japanese ceramics, which has influenced several generations of ceramicists. In Japan, ceramics is considered a major art form, and some ceramicists are honored with the title of Living National Treasure. Later, I discovered terra sigillata, the technique of the ancient Greeks and Romans—a return to the Mediterranean!
Over my long career, I’ve participated in numerous exhibitions, too many to list, as well as public and professional fairs such as Maison et Objet.
I taught ceramics at the Aubagne school, which trains professionals, and since 2010, I’ve created a continuing education center for ceramists and other artists. This continuing education organization is located at the Tuilerie Bossy de Valabre, near Gardanne. The desire to pass on this demanding profession, where technique and creativity go hand in hand, has fueled my passion.
Ceramics continues to fascinate me because it’s an infinite playground that allows for ever-renewed creativity.
