POEMU is a creative, hyperactive, and multidisciplinary artist (lyricist, singer, illustrator, visual artist, sculptor). A collector of 1950s ceramics, he decided in 2021 to revisit them by designing models with distorted and deformable forms. These designs are applicable to ceramics, glass, crystal, and all malleable materials.
This has resulted in a series of innovative concepts that he shares with the world of ceramicists through his collection of figurative handles, for which he has designed over 3,000 models.
Moving from drawing to practice, he learned the basics of ceramics in Aix-en-Provence from Christophe De Mons. A solid foundation in chemistry and many hours of observation and research helped them rediscover glazing techniques that replaced those of the 1950s (variations in crackle glaze, satin blacks, etc.). the finish of the enamel being just as important as the shape.
Subsequently, concerned with energy efficiency, he worked on single-fire techniques, high-temperature firing, and underfiring stoneware. “Since all creation is a quest, each work is unique and necessarily unfinished, sometimes resulting in a magical outcome.”
