Juliet Schlunke, an artist fascinated by life!

Born in Australia, Juliet Schlunke began drawing and painting at a very young age.

Indeed, as early as 1967, she studied in Sydney at the studio of John Olsen, one of the country’s greatest painters. She was then discovered in several local art galleries.

From 1976, she exhibited her work in Madrid, where she lived. In 1981, she opened a restaurant there, decorated with her hand-painted fabrics. This was an opportunity to embark on a new career working with interior designers.

Notably:

  • Between 1988 and 1993, she collaborated with Gérard Bach, a decorator in Geneva, creating paintings on fabrics, carpets, floors, and walls.
  • In 1990, she signed a contract with Nobilis in Paris to design furnishing fabric patterns. Her first collection, “Villa del Sol,” was launched in 1993 at the Biennale des Editeurs de la Décoration at the Grand Palais.
  • During the following years, she created other collections for Nobilis, Pierre Frey, Boussac, Lelièvre, Etamine, Zimmer & Rohde, etc.

Furthermore, she designs for porcelain and ceramic manufacturers: Laure Japy (Limoges), Lunéville, and Williams-Sonoma in the USA.

In 1997, settled in the southern Luberon, she produced modeled ceramics. Her creations were exhibited at the “Vivre Côté Sud” fair in Saint Tropez in 1998, and the boutique of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs at the Louvre commissioned pieces from her.

As a writer, Parole editions published her first book, “Rosenthal, an Australian Childhood,” in 2008 and “The Dryad” in 2013. In 2019, Parole editions published her third novel, “Why Leave? The Australian Dream.”

She has established her showroom and studio in Ansouis, one of the most beautiful villages in France in the southern Luberon.
